The first one I saw on the NBC show Community recently where one of the characters decides he wants to follow his dreams and take a film class – despite the urging of his father to get a business degree and take over the family business. “Documentary film…they’re like real movies, but with ugly people.”

Ok, so that’s a pretty good take on docs. What about independent film? Ok, Strongbad. You’ve got this one? I truly have forgotten how funny Homestar Runner is. It’s a pretty brilliant shakedown of independent films that not only makes fun of the formula for such a film, but also those that make them (from the no-low budget sad sack, to the son-of-a-producer-let’s-make-a-million-dollar-film-but-make-sure-it-looks-like-we-made-it-on-a-couple-hundred-thousand-type).
