Reprising some rhymes for Shaya Loney of Answers.com the day after their debut performance at Gary Vaynerchuk's Presentation. Hailing from New Jersey and DC respectively, when asked, "can you kick it?" They swiftly responded, "Yes we can" with this fantastic flow.

SXSW Cogaoke 2010: Stay Awesome, Vote Awesome

Posted by scottstead on Feb 23, 2010 in Karaoke, SXSW

What you are looking at to your immediate left are the results of last year’s 2009 Cogaoke online contest. You voted and I left everything I had on the stage, along with my former Jonny’s Partay cohort Jonny Goldstein, now of Envizualize. Jonny and I finished huge with our rendition of the Red Hot Chili Peppers “Give It Away”, complete with hand stands, keytars, and umm…socks, yes, socks. You get the idea. We brought home the silver with a solid second place (we’re pretty sure it was fixed). This year I and David Hale, known by many as Twitter’s @lostonroute66, will be pulling off a karaoke feat that no other dare attempt – trying to nail the cogaoke-triple-mc-half-spring-vocal-twist (which shall remain a big surprise until then). You can assure a killer performance this year (and the possible appearance of special guests) by voting for us every day for the next 6 days. With this vote you are guaranteeing the continuation of karaoke-awesome-ocity, the betterment of mankind, and longer lives for babies, puppies, and kittens everywhere. So, gear up, get ready and head your browsers on over to our page at the Ok Cogaoke voting battle grounds HERE and give us your vote (in as many browsers, at as many locations as you can whip up). Because you have to know by now that…

Sean McCullough and Loic Le Meur

Posted by scottstead on Mar 24, 2009 in Bloggers, SXSW, Vlog
Club DeVille was hopping at the Gnomedex, Seesmic, Ping.fm, BlogHer party where I ran into Sean McCullough of Ping.fm and the infamous serial entrepreneur Loic Le Meur of Seesmic fame. Loic talks about his love for running and his favorite moments at SXSW, and Sean tells us about Ping.fm. A huge thanks to Ponzi Pirillo for putting the party together. It was a great time! I even stole a couple of minutes of fame on Chris Pirillo live!

TechCab Confessions w/ Irina Slutsky and Steve Garfield

Posted by scottstead on Mar 23, 2009 in SXSW, Tech, Vlog
Irina and Eddie of GETV showed up in their TechCab for a third year in a row armed with live streaming technologies. Their task? Trade cab rides for confessions. I was fortunate enough to catch a cab ride with Steve Garfield of SteveGarfield.com and my new pal Chris. Steve was a bit reluctant at first, unable to think of ANYTHING that might qualify as a confession or a secret; but with her super ability to drag a confession out of anyone, Irina got Steve to fess up and spill the digital beans.

Patrick Earl: Shotgun Houses and Family Ties

Posted by scottstead on Mar 23, 2009 in SXSW, Vlog
New York artist Patrick Earl of www.patrick-earl.com shared his artwork with Jonny Goldstein and I on the streets of Austin. His works are simple and straight forward and had a definite appeal as it captured the essence of his background as a man and an artist, as well as the diversity of SXSW in Austin. He tries to inspire entrepreneurs, pay homage to his father, and still manages to keep things light with works like “Bench Warmers.” If a captive audience is what you desire, he’s got your back on that as well. This is just another example of how art and entrepreneurism is alive and well on the streets of Austin (via NY). Thanks Patrick.

Pasties and Pastries Party: SXSW 2009

Posted by scottstead on Mar 23, 2009 in SXSW, Vlog
The gloves came off (ok, amongst other things) at Emo’s for the Pasties and Pastries Party. We’ll let the video speak for itself. Baudy and burlesque performers took the stage and wow’d us all with their moves, grooves, and tassles.

Kid Sister @ Speakeasy: SXSW 2009

Posted by scottstead on Mar 23, 2009 in Music, SXSW, Travel
@FierceKitty plucked Jonny Goldstein and I from our hotel room to escort her to the Speakeasy for a show featuring Datarock and Kid Sister. I didn’t know what to expect as I hadn’t heard either, but Kid Sister blew the top off the place. A breif interlude of Jump Around (it was Saint Patty’s Day) got the croud rowled up which led to this. This is her hit “Pro Nails”. She’s a lot of fun and full of energy I highly recommend checking her out.

Dorkbot Party: SXSW 2009

Posted by scottstead on Mar 23, 2009 in SXSW, Tech, Vlog
One of my favorite parties every year, Dorkbot, got under way and got out the Tesla coil. Mr. Tesla, you never expected what the freaks and geeks of Dorkbot would do with your technology did you? Star Wars fans will appreciate this. A lot.

Ok Happy Cogaoke @ Scoot Inn: SXSW 2009

Posted by scottstead on Mar 23, 2009 in Karaoke, SXSW, Vlog
The Cogaoke contest was on. Jonny and I adorned our wigs and socks. The lights came up and keyboard man brought his A game. Ladies and gentlemen these are just a few of the fabulous contestants that took the stage and shined that evening. Jonny and I came in a humble second place. Enjoy performers such as Christine Major, Aaron Brazell, Jonathan Finnegan, Scott Stead, and Jonny Goldstein.

SXSW Cogaoke: Vote For Me!

Keep Me On Top

Yo, so check it. TechKaraoke DC has been taking off like a flaming-out-of-control-rocket-with-its-after-burners-on. We had a two, count them, two great events at Recessions and Sticky Rice, and were even graced by the presence of the co-founder of TechKaraoke International, Brett Petersel (also of Mashable fame).
The latest news is that I am pushing really hard to get into the top 20 of the Cogaoke online portion of their Karaoke Contest, which will be happening in front of 300 awesome people at SXSW. So what am I asking of you?

Vote Early and Often

That’s right vote for me. Vote for me once. Vote for me twice. Vote for me 500 times. And I promise that I will do my best to represent. Let me know if you’re supporting me and I’ll give you a shout out on stage, “I’d like to thank the academy…”. I also promise that I will do my best to end hunger, hug puppies more, learn to play bridge, and stop juggling kittens. Love me. Vote for me. Because you know I’d do the same for you. Stay tuned for videos from this months TechKaraoke DC! Here’s a little unedited tease of what’s to come. Heyoh! It’s @Brett! It’s me! It’s Sticky. And to be completely fair – vote for Brett too! After all, TechKaraoke came from his loins!

Cheers,
Scott Stead
