Taking off from New London, CT. I love these old port towns with their ferries and freighters, tug boats and trawlers. Once whalers were made in these towns, tall wooden whaling ships. Now container cranes wait for their cargo in the stillness of morning. Families challenge the chill, fishing on the beach wearing Boston jerseys and caps. Ahh the allegiance of New Englanders to their beantown boys. 100 miles away, if I didn't know better, I might think I was nearing Fenway.
