What I’ve Been Up To…and Where Do We Go From Here

So, looking back I may not have been as diligent about posting as I would like to. Do not fear - my time has not been squandered. I’ve been doing some serious work on gathering content, meeting folks from the social media scene here in Washington, DC - and a lot of my time has gone to partnering up with my pal Jonny Goldstein on his action packed live internet talk show Jonny’s Partay (site coming soon). We book guests. We show up at his home in Hyattsville, MD. We set up. They show up, and boom…internet magic happens. Just to give you the skinny on how we do the show - I’ll break it down for you - Camtwist says it all. All of our graphics, lower thirds, full screen videos, and cRaZy effects are done through this wonderful little app that is only available - I do believe - for the Mac. It’s great software - and as soon as we have some cash flow going to fund this Par-tay, we’re so throwing the guy that developed this app some money - because it’s made a lot of great things happen. Yeah, for some reason Jonny loves the cartoon and bullet effects - it may have something to do with the fact that he is in fact a real life cartoon character. This show happens every Wednesday at 9 p.m. E.S.T. at the aforementioned link above - but just in case you missed it I’ll spell it out, www.jonnygoldstein.com.

It’s been a ton of fun and a great learning experience for me. I’ve been working in television and freelance video for almost ten years now - and I’ve gotten further and further from the spontaneous and creative “stuff” that got me into it in the first place, and let me tell you, it’s been really refreshing to be a part of the show. I’ve met so many great people deeply involved in the social media world in one way or another. Some of them are raking in beaucoup d’argent (that’s a lot of money for you non-franco-philes) some of them are in it just for the experience, the interactivity, the community, and some - maybe because deep in side we’re all a little bit egotistic/narcissistic. Whatever their reason - to quote Jim Long, @newmediajim to all you Twitter lovers out there, “I’m surrounded by the coolest, smartest people in the world.” I’m a better blogger, a more consistent blogger, a better inter-actor, a better writer, a better videographer, a better networker, a better public speaker, and definitely - most of all - more motivated to create original content and thus tapping into the side of me that’s just aching to bust and have some fun. I had a lot of fun at the Jeff Pulver breakfast get together and I just wanted to thank everyone for participating in the video I put together. I loved doing it and I learned a lot - yet again. Thanks for reading, thanks for watching, thanks for participating. Where do we go from here? I don’t know - but we’re definitely on a really cool and new undefined path - and as long as I’m on it with people like Jim Long, Chris Brogan, Jonny Goldstein, Jill Foster, Chris Parandian, Gerry T, bloggers/vloggers/entrepreneurs big and small - I guess it doesn’t really matter. What do they say? Yeah, it’s about the journey.
